Optical/UV Emission in the Tidal Disruption Event ASASSN-14li: Implications of Disc Modeling

چکیده

We predict late-time optical/UV emission from tidal disruption events (TDEs) our slim accretion disc model \citep{Wen20} and explore the impact of black hole mass $M_\bullet$, spin $a_\bullet$, size. use these synthetic spectra to successfully fit multi-band \emph{Swift} observations ASASSN-14li at >350 days, setting only host galaxy extinction outer radius as free parameters employing inclination, rates derived fitting 10 epochs ASASSN-14li's X-ray with disc. To address nature \emph{early}-time emission, we consider two models: shock dissipation reprocessing. find that (1) predicted colour (e.g., $u-w2$) is insensitive unless spreads quickly; (2) a starburst required data, consistent post-starburst host; (3) surprisingly, $\approx$2$\times$ $\sim$constant late times, showing viscous spreading slow or non-existent; (4) can be self-consistent if $M_\bullet \lesssim 10^{6.75}$M$_\odot$, i.e., on low end $M_\bullet$ range ($10^{6.5-7.1}$M$_\odot$; 1$\sigma$ CL); larger masses require an unrealistically massive progenitor star; (5) gas needed for reprocessing, whether by quasi-static outflowing layer, $<0.5$M$_\odot$, (plausible) solar-mass star.

AN ULTRAVIOLET SPECTRUM OF THE TIDAL DISRUPTION FLARE ASASSN-14li

We present a Hubble Space Telescope Space Telescope Imaging Spectrograph spectrum of ASASSN-14li, the first rest-frame ultraviolet (UV) spectrum of a tidal disruption flare (TDF). The underlying continuum is well fit by a blackbody with T 3.5 10 UV 4 = ́ K, an order of magnitude smaller than the temperature inferred from X-ray spectra (and significantly more precise than previous efforts based ...

Discovery of an Outflow from Radio Observations of the Tidal Disruption event ASASSN-14li

We report the discovery of transient radio emission from the nearby optically-discovered TDE ASASSN-14li (distance of 90 Mpc), making it the first typical TDE detected in the radio, and unambiguously pointing to the formation of a non-relativistic outflow with a kinetic energy of ≈ 4−10×10 erg, a velocity of ≈ 12, 000 − 36, 000 km s, and a mass of ≈ 3 × 10 − 7 × 10 M⊙. We show that the outflow ...

A radio jet from the optical and x-ray bright stellar tidal disruption flare ASASSN-14li.

The tidal disruption of a star by a supermassive black hole leads to a short-lived thermal flare. Despite extensive searches, radio follow-up observations of known thermal stellar tidal disruption flares (TDFs) have not yet produced a conclusive detection. We present a detection of variable radio emission from a thermal TDF, which we interpret as originating from a newly launched jet. The multi...

RX J 1420 . 4 + 5334 – another tidal disruption event ? ?

We have discovered a transient X-ray source, RX J1420.4+5334, which displays a ROSAT flux variation of > ∼ 150 between the ROSAT All-Sky-Survey in 1990 and a preceding pointed ROSAT observations in July 1990. Optical observations suggest a non-active galaxy as the only visible counterpart. We therefore tentatively identify RX J1420.4+5334 as a tidal disruption event in a non-active galaxy.
